While plenty of other childhood treasures have been atrociously adapted for the big screen, The Peanuts Movie is a sweet little gift for fans of the long-running comic strip.

The Peanuts Movie is like an old fuzzy blanket which you can wrap around yourself on a cold winter morning. It is the film equivalent of comfort food, the feeling of meeting old friends on the first day of a new school session – it is nostalgia and we all know how sweet that can be.

It took Hollywood years and years of convincing the Schulz family to turn the beloved Peanuts cartoon strip into a film. Now that The Peanuts Movie has arrived, it’s a moment of a small celebration for two reasons – firstly because fans finally get to see their favourite comics on screen, and secondly because the film is genuinely very good.

Admirably, the makers of The Peanuts Movie have stayed true to the simplicity and the somewhat quaint humor of creator Charles M Schulz's beloved comic strip. Despite being computer animated, and presented in 3D, the film nicely replicates the look and feel of the squiggly hand-drawn source material.
